§ 14-136. Overtaking and passing school bus.
(a)
The driver of a vehicle upon meeting or overtaking any school bus which has stopped on the highway for the purpose of receiving or discharging any school children shall immediately stop his vehicle and shall not pass such school bus while such school children are alighting therefrom and embarking thereon.
(b)
This section is not applicable unless the school bus shall bear upon the front and rear thereon a plainly visible sign containing the words "School Bus" in letters not less than four inches in height which can be removed or covered when the vehicle is not in use as a school bus.
(c)
The driver of a vehicle upon a highway having four or more lanes which permits at least two lanes of traffic to travel in opposite directions need not stop such vehicle upon meeting a school bus which is stopped in the opposing roadway; and need not stop such vehicle when driving upon a controlled access highway when passing a school bus traveling in either direction that is stopped in a loading zone adjacent to the surfaced or improved part of the controlled access highway where pedestrians are not permitted to cross.
