§ 14-328. Parking on narrow streets prohibited during winter precipitation events.

  • (a)

    Streets that are 27 feet or less in width may, when necessary in the reasonable judgement of the Village Engineer to permit proper snow removal or application of salt or other road surface treatments during winter precipitation events, have signs placed on one side thereof at the Village Engineer'ss direction prohibiting the parking of vehicles on that side of the street during or after winter precipitation events. Whenever practicable, the side of the street so designated and signed at the direction of the Village Engineer shall be the side on which fire hydrants are located.

    (b)

    For the purposes of this section, the term "winter precipitation event" means any event of snowfall, sleet, freezing rain or ice, regardless of the amount of accumulation.

    (c)

    No person shall park any vehicle on the side of any street designated and signed so as to give reasonable notice that parking is prohibited during winter precipitation events, both during any such winter precipitation event and for an additional period of 24 hours after the winter precipitation event stops or until village snow removal or street treating operations are completed, whichever is sooner.
