  • It is the duty of every owner or his agent or the occupant of any premises, store, house, building, flat, apartment or tenement in the village to:

    (1)

Furnish sufficient storage containers to permit the storage of all refuse other than grass and hedge clippings, leaves and bulky objects therein in a manner which will insure each container is tightly covered.

    (2)

Maintain in good order and repair, each container, including covers and handles. Containers which have been determined to be unsuitable or deteriorated to the point where they can no longer be used may be removed by the village if left in the collection area for more than 72 hours after a notice has been placed on the container. If garbage or refuse is not in the required containers or is placed so it can be blown or scattered in the wind, a written notice of violation will be delivered to the premises. If, after a second notice, the violation continues, a citation charging a violation of the provisions of this section may be issued by the Village Manager or his agent. Upon conviction, the minimum fine for a first offense shall be $25.00, and for a second or subsequent offense $50.00.

    (3)

Keep underground containers free of water, snow or ice. Underground containers are prohibited in new construction.
