§ 24-3. General Business License.

(a)

License required. No business shall operate within the village without a valid General Business License issued by the village. A business which operates within the village shall be required to obtain, in addition to a General Business License, such other licenses or permits as apply to the business, as set forth in this Code or other village ordinances.

(b)

Annual fee. The annual fee for a Business License shall be the following amount, which shall be in addition to the fee for any other license required by this Code or other village ordinances:

(1)

The annual fee for a contractor shall be $80.00.

(2)

The annual fee for a business which has a gross floor area of zero to 3,000 square feet shall be $80.00.

(3)

The annual fee for a business which has a gross floor area of in excess of 3,000 to 10,000 square feet shall be $160.00.

(4)

The annual fee for a business which has a gross floor area in excess of 10,000 square feet shall be $235.00.

(c)

Late penalty. Except as to those contractors covered by subsection (b)(1) of this section, the annual fee for a business operating within the village shall be paid to the village no later than January 31 of any given year. Any business that fails to pay the annual fee on or before January 31 shall be required to pay the applicable annual fee set forth in subsections (b)(2) through (b)(4) of this section, plus shall pay a late penalty in the amount of 100 percent of the annual fee due.

(d)

Several locations or activities. A business which has more than one location or which performs more than one business activity within the village shall be treated as a single business for the purposes of this chapter if the several locations and activities are conducted under one business name and are held out to the public as a single, integrated business operation.
