§ 24-345. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Contribution means and includes, but is not necessarily limited to, food, clothing, money, subscription, property or donations under the guise of a loan of money or property.

    Person means any individual, organization, group, association, partnership, joint venture, corporation, trust, or any combination of the forgoing.

    Registered solicitor means any person who has obtained a valid solicitation permit as hereinafter provided.

    Residence means every separate living unit in the village occupied for residential purposes by one or more persons, contained within any type of building or structure.

    Solicitation means seeking to sell, offer for sale, sell and deliver, barter, or exchange any goods or services, or seeking to obtain contributions for a charitable or political purpose, or on behalf of any person or organization.

    Solicitor means any person engaging in solicitation.

    Street means the entire area dedicated to public use for public street purposes and shall include, but not be limited to, roadways, parkways, alleys and sidewalks.
