§ 26-108. Specifications for installation.
(a)
All water service pipes shall be laid at least five feet below the established grade of the street. Such service pipes shall consist of type K copper pipe one-inch minimum or ductile iron in standard sizes. Services of two-inch internal diameter or larger shall be constructed of ductile-iron pipe of a size and quality conforming to the specifications of the American Water Works Association.
(b)
No other materials for service pipes, other than that specified above, shall be permitted between the water main and the meter.
(c)
Where a service pipe enters a building, it shall be provided with a mechanical connection to the building and stop or valve placed within 12 inches of the inside wall where the service enters the building between the meter and the wall, and a similar stop or valve shall be placed on the opposite side of the meter within 12 inches thereof. Such stops or valves shall have a handle or wrench attached thereto for the purpose of turning same so that the water may be turned off in case of leaks in the building. Such stops or valves shall be kept accessible at all times.
