§ 26-143. Testing meters.

  • (a)

    The village may at any time remove a meter temporarily for the purpose of testing its accuracy. Any meter so tested and found to register within the American Water Works Association standard shall be considered acceptable, and its registration shall be considered correct. Any meter which fails to register within the American Water Works Association standard shall be repaired or replaced within 15 days at the expense of the village.

    (b)

    The owner may request an accuracy test on their own water meter when there is reasonable doubt about the accuracy of the reading. Such a test shall be performed by the Village or the Village's agent and shall be subject to a $150.00 fee for each test conducted.
