§ 2-1327. Duty upon termination of office; appointment of successor.
(a)
Every officer of the village upon termination of his incumbency in office, for any cause whatsoever, shall deliver to his successor all books, records and property which belong to the village or which he has received in his official capacity. If no successor is appointed within one week after the termination of the incumbent, the books, records and property shall be delivered to the Village Clerk.
(b)
When the term of any officer expires, the appointment of his successor shall be made on or before the first Tuesday in May in the year in which such term expires, or as soon thereafter as may be convenient, for the term provided for such officer by ordinance or statute.
