§ 2-468. Office created; appointment.

There is hereby created the office of Chief of Police. The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the Village Manager for an indefinite period. The Chief of Police need not be appointed from the members of the Police Department and if appointed from among the members of the Police Department, the appointment need not be from the rank next below the Chief of Police, but may be appointed from among the members of the Police Department regardless of rank.
