§ 2-552. Appointment of members.

(a)

Appointment of nonexempt rank members. All members of the Fire Department provided for in this section, and defined as being of nonexempt rank as defined in subsection (b) of this section are officers of the village and shall be appointed by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the village.

(b)

Appointment of exempt rank members. Exempt ranks shall be appointed as follows:

(1)

The Fire Chief shall be appointed by and shall serve in such rank at the sole discretion of the Village Manager.

(2)

Deputy Fire Chiefs and Battalion Chiefs shall be appointed by the Fire Chief subject to the prior advice and consent of the Village Manager.
