§ 8-79. Duties of permittee.

  • Every permittee under this article shall:

    (1)

    Notice of removal of wires. If necessary to move such building through or past wires, cables or other electrical conductors owned or operated by the village or by any person, serve notice in writing upon the person owning, using, or operating any such wire, cable or other electrical conductor through which the applicant desires to pass, specifying the time the building will reach such wires, cable or other electrical conductor and the time at which he desires such wire, cable or other electrical conductor to be cut or otherwise removed or disposed of so as to allow such building to pass. Such notice shall be served upon such person not less than 24 hours before the time it is desired to cut such wire, cable or other electrical conductor.

    (2)

    Remove service connection. Prior to the move, see that the sewer line is plugged with an approved plug, the water is shut off at the main, and the meter has been removed by an authorized village employee. The permittee shall notify the gas, electric and telephone service companies to remove their services.

    (3)

    Notify of revised moving time. Notify the Director of Community Development in writing of a desired change in moving date and hours as proposed in the application, and receive the written approval of the Director of Community Development for such change.

    (4)

    Use designated streets. Move a building only over streets designated for use in the written permit.

    (5)

    Display lights. Cause red warning lights to be displayed during the nighttime on every side of the building, visible from the street, in such manner as to warn the public of the obstruction, and shall at all times erect and maintain barricades across the streets in such manner as to protect the public from damage or injury by reason of the removal of the building.

    (6)

    Street occupancy period. Remove the building from the village streets after two days of such occupancy, unless an extension is granted by the Village Manager.

    (7)

    Pay expense of officer. Pay the expense of a traffic officer required by the Director of Community Development to accompany the movement of the building to protect the public from injury.

    (8)

    Notify of damage. Notify the Director of Community Development in writing of any and all damage done to property belonging to the village within 24 hours after the damage or injury has occurred.

    (9)

    Clear old premises. Remove all rubbish and materials and fill all excavations to existing grade at the original building site so that the premises are left in a safe and sanitary condition.

    (10)

    Conform with codes. Cause the building in its new location to conform to all building, electrical, and plumbing codes and zoning ordinances of the village.
