§ 8-382. Elevator and escalator codes.

  • For the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for the installation, repair and alteration of elevator, escalators, and similar conveyances, the village incorporates by reference as if fully set forth herein the Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators (ASME A17.1-2007), A17.1(a)-2007, and A17.1(s)-2007, Guide for Inspection of Elevators, Escalators, and Moving Walks (ASME 17.2-2004), Safety Code for Existing Elevators and Escalators (ASME A17.3-2005), Safety Standard for Platform Lifts and Stairway Chairlifts (ASME A18.1-2005), Standard for the Qualification of Elevator Inspectors (ASME QEI-1-2004), Safety Requirements for Personal Hoists and Employee Elevators (ANSI A10.4-2004), and Automated People Mover Standards (ASCE 21-2000), three copies of which shall be kept on file in the office of the Village Clerk. The provisions of said elevator codes shall be controlling in the construction, repair and alteration of all elevators, escalators, and similar conveyances therein contained within the corporate limits of the village. Whenever the terms "authority having jurisdiction for enforcing the Code," "governmental bodies exercising legal jurisdiction over electrical installations," "administrative authority," or similar terms are used in said elevator and escalator codes, they shall be held to mean the village.
