§ 8-443. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Critical root zone means that circular area under a tree as determined by a one-foot radius for each one inch in DBH.

    Diameter breast height or DBH means the diameter of a tree measured at 4½ feet above the existing grade at the base of the tree.

    Protected tree means any tree on private property that is ten inches or greater in DBH.
