§ 8-561. Permit requirements.

  • (a)

    Permits shall be issued only to those persons, firms, or corporations licensed by the State under the provisions of the Roofing Industry Licensing Act (ILCS ch. 225, act 335, § 1), except that a permit may be issued to a homeowner, provided there is compliance with all other requirements of this article.

    (b)

    A complete description of the proposed work shall be provided by the contractor or owner including specifications of all new materials, the methods of installation, and the number of previous roofing applications presently in place. Not more than one previous roofing application shall be permitted to remain in place, except on flat roofs where not more than two previous roofing applications shall be permitted to remain in place.

    (c)

    A sketch plan shall be submitted showing the total area of the work, together with an estimated value of construction work.

    (d)

    A description will be submitted stating whether any disposal chutes are required in the public right-of-way and details for a temporary fence, if required for security of the disposal or staging area.

    (e)

    A description will be submitted of any scaffolds that will be required.

    (f)

    A Dumpster Permit and a security deposit for restoring public property damaged by contract operations are required.

    (g)

    No roofing matter shall be stored in the public right-of-way.
