§ 14-299. All-night parking.

Latest version.
  • (a)

The Transportation Commission is authorized to direct the erection or removal of signs indicating no parking upon a street between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. of any day, except physicians on emergency calls. In deciding whether to direct the erection or removal of signs, the Transportation Commission shall consider the desires of the adult occupants of the premises along the street and block affected, the availability to such occupants of off-street parking, and the special need to clear the street regularly because of volume of traffic thereon. At least 15 days before any Transportation Commission meeting at which the erection or removal of signs will be considered, the Transportation Commission shall cause written notice thereof to be delivered to the premises along the affected street or block, and the premises on the cross streets at either end for two blocks in each direction. Except for a proceeding to consider erection or removal initiated by the Transportation Commission on its own initiative or at the request of the Village Engineer or Chief of Police, no request for erection or removal shall be entertained by the Transportation Commission unless it is supported by a petition signed by at least 50 percent of the adult occupants of the premises along the street and block affected.

    (b)

When official signs prohibiting all-night parking are erected as authorized herein, no person shall park a vehicle upon that street in violation of any sign.
