§ 26-138. Meters required.
(a)
In order to provide a means to record water usage, all premises using water from the water supply system of the village shall be equipped with an adequate size water meter purchased from the village and, to the extent possible, a remote reading device. All such meters shall be installed at the expense of the property owner. Water service when no meter has been installed, shall be a violation of this section except when a village permit or the Water Meter Supervisor has authorized the use of unmetered water. Water service, when no meter has been installed, whether used in violation of this Code or not, shall be supplied at the rates provided for in this article.
(b)
Prior to occupation of any premises, a water meter shall be installed. Before being installed, all meters shall be tested by the Department of Engineering and Public Works and shall conform to the requirements for meters hereinafter set forth. Only one meter will be installed for each service except where a separate irrigation system is provided.
