§ 26-139. Location of meters.

  • All meters shall he placed inside the building (in the basement where a basement exists) and shall be placed on the service pipe not to exceed two feet from the inside wall where such pipe enters the building, with a stop valve between the meter and the wall. Every meter shall be easily accessible and shall be kept from all obstructions so that the same may be easily read and inspected, and shall be protected by the customer from freezing and other danger. All meters shall have an appropriately sized test tee and opening inserted between the meter and the stop valve on the outlet of the meter. Each test tee shall be provided with either a suitable valve or brass plug. All water meters shall have a continuous electrical grounding conductor connected to both the service entry pipe and the distribution pipe at each side of the water meter, in accordance with the National Electrical Code.
