§ 26-145. Right of entry.
(a)
The Village Engineer shall be permitted at all reasonable hours to enter the premises or buildings of consumers for the purpose of repairing, replacing or reading meters or testing and examining water pipes, fixtures and remote reading devices.
(b)
The Village Engineer may cause the disconnection of service to any consumer who fails to permit entry as provided in subsection (a) of this section. In the event of an emergency or other situation under which the Village Engineer reasonably believes that failure to permit entry immediately threatens the public health or safety, the Village Engineer may immediately disconnect service and shall that same day post a notice of said disconnection on the premises. In all other cases, the Village Engineer may disconnect service to the consumer if entry is not permitted within 15 days of a written demand for entry has been served on the consumer, said notice to be served either by personal delivery to the service address of the consumer, or by certified mail, which shall be treated as having been served on the day it was deposited in U.S. mail for delivery.
