§ 8-296. Hand excavation required.

For one- and two-family construction, the excavation of the foundation of the principal structure may be no closer than two feet to any lot line. The excavation of any foundation element that is permitted to encroach less than five feet from a lot line shall be excavated by hand. This includes, but is not limited to, window wells and chimneys. Proper stabilization of the excavation shall be required.
