§ 8-107. Fence permits required.

  • (a)

    It is unlawful to erect or construct a fence, wall or similar structure without first having obtained a permit therefor issued by the Director of Community Development. No permit shall be issued other than in compliance with the regulations contained in section 30-6.4.3 of the Wilmette Zoning Ordinance, appendix A of this Code.

    (b)

    It is unlawful for any person to construct a fence without a permit, or maintain any fence or post containing or constructed of, in whole or in part, barbed wire or any similar material likely to cause injury to persons coming in contact therewith. It is unlawful to build or maintain any fence or unprotected wire charged with electric current, except that if the fence is more than seven feet high an electrified portion of the fence may be maintained where it protects dangerous material and is more than seven feet above the pavement or ground adjacent.

    (c)

    The fee for the permit shall be $39.00. Fence permits shall expire and become invalid six months from the date of issuance.
