§ 14-460. Parking violations; penalties.

  • (a)

    Any person violating the provisions of sections 14-296 through 14-459 shall be guilty of an offense punishable by a penalty as provided in subsections (b), (c) and (d) of this section. Any violator may avoid prosecution for violating any of said subsection, by surrendering the citation or other notice of violation, and paying to the Police Department, within ten days from the date appearing on said violation notice, the penalties provided in subsections (b), (c) and (d) of this section. Any person making such payment shall receive a receipt therefor from the Police Department.

    (b)

    The penalty for violations of section 14-404 shall be as follows:

    (1)

    For a first offense or second offense occurring within one year: $35.00;

    (2)

    For a third or fourth offense occurring within one year: $70.00; and

    (3)

    For a fifth or subsequent offense within one year: $140.00.

    (c)

    The penalty for violations of article XI of this chapter shall be not less than $30.00 nor more than $750.00.

    (d)

    Any person who violates, causes or consents to a violation of sections 14-429 and 14-430, upon conviction, shall be punished by a penalty of not less than $35.00 nor more than $750.00.

    (e)

    Any person who violates any provisions of sections 14-452 through 14-457 shall be guilty of an ordinance violation punishable by a fine as provided for in section 2-1305 of this Code.

    (f)

    Any person who pays a penalty under this subsection is liable for any service fee or charge imposed by a third party in processing the payment and shall pay such service charge at the time of payment of the penalty. Such service charge shall be in addition to the penalty.
